The Sous Chef holds a multipurpose position in the kitchen, working in concert with the Executive Chef and other kitchen personnel. The kitchen team ensures that all aspects of service is top quality and prepared in a clean, healthy, and timely fashion. Your ability to work well as a committed team member in an active work environment is critical to the success of Rainbow Acres' mission and health of the residents.

Qualifications:

• A demonstrated ability to prepare food and understanding of meal-planning.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in close quarters with others.
• Valid Arizona Driver License and ability to drive a vehicle highly desirable.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Requirements:

• Minimum of six months experience in a professional kitchen.
• Must have the dexterity and ability to use hands to efficiently chop, dice, stir, and prepare food.
• Ability to work within a professional kitchen environment with potentially hot temperatures, close quarters, and an active pace.
• Flexibility and availability to work weekend days and/or evenings on occasion.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, residents, and volunteers.
• Possess, or ability to acquire a Food Handler Card and maintain currency at all times.
• Able to pass background check; obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Environmental & Physical Conditions:

This position demands good physical and mental health. The employee will be required to lift, carry, walk, stand, squat, bend, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule. Must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and work near/with cleansers, soaps, and other routine kitchen products. May be asked to drive to transport food.
