Position Summary:
An Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor assures the highest possible level of guest satisfaction by regularly performing duties that support the efficient operation of the Housekeeping Department. Assists in tasking daily assignments and inspects work for conformance to hotel brand requirements of cleanliness. Works alongside the team ensuring all quality standards are met. Promptly addresses guest requests and works cohesively to resolve guest challenges. Takes the lead during the absence of the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Adhere to start times.
- Wear proper attire and a nametag while on shift. Keep personal appearance professional.
- Complete all company-required training and/or certifications in a timely manner.
- Acknowledge guests in public areas with warm friendly greetings.
- Stay updated on events, including groups and meeting room usage to effectively handle all foreseen situations.
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately. Attend to any guest complaints and take service recovery measures if required.
- Participate in the daily morning stand-up to motivate the team and address any work challenges.
- Prepare and distribute room assignment sheets and floor keys.
- Inspect all vacant clean rooms from the previous day.
- Maintain clear and efficient communication with the front desk and other departments of the hotel.
- Make sure that all cleaning agents are properly used according to instructions. Train all housekeepers in the proper use of chemicals. Ensure MSDS requirements and other safety factors as per OSHA are met and practiced on the property.
- Report the accurate status of guest rooms to the front office throughout the day. Complete housekeeping-related reports and fulfill guest pre-check-in requests as needed.
- Enforce and control standard procedures for the acceptance, security and return of guest lost and found items.
- Ensure all housekeeping staff understands and adhere to room time standards; breaks and meals are taken as required by law.
- Provide support to the Housekeeping Supervisor in all areas of housekeeping operations, including staff training and coaching.
- Ensure guest rooms are properly secured and proper key control procedures are utilized by the staff.
- Ensure all linen and supply inventories are kept to standard pars. Storage rooms are kept clean and organized.
- Schedule deep cleaning for guest rooms and public areas in accordance with quarterly scheduled projects.
- Make weekly department schedules according to hotel forecasts.
- Assist in controlling expenses in the housekeeping department. Reduce linen and terry discards.
- Assist in cleaning guest rooms as needed and as directed by the supervisor.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands:
- Be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, with efficiency and under time constraints.
- Requires physical mobility and stamina.
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Be able to bend, reach, kneel, pivot and grip items while working on assigned tasks.
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate all necessary hotel equipment.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
